About

About the Louisiana Startup Report

The Louisiana Startup Report is an annual research initiative that tracks the people, companies, capital, and conditions shaping the state’s startup ecosystem. Building on years of regional research, the report now offers a statewide view designed to make Louisiana’s innovation economy easier to understand, compare, and act on.

Why make this report?

Build a shared picture

Bring fragmented information into one clear view of the statewide ecosystem.

Track change over time

Create a consistent annual benchmark for growth, needs, and emerging trends.

Support better decisions

Give people across the ecosystem useful information for policy and investment.

How the survey works

The report is built from survey research developed with Tulane faculty, research partners, and community organizations. Community partners help connect the research team with entrepreneurs across the state and support respondent outreach. Responses are aggregated and analyzed to surface patterns across Louisiana’s startup ecosystem.

Who qualifies to participate

Participation criteria are intentionally broad to capture companies at different stages of growth. Eligibility is based on factors such as location, company age, annual revenue, and participation in Louisiana’s innovation ecosystem. The final statewide criteria are defined in the methodology.

Who the survey represents

The research aims to reflect a broad cross-section of Louisiana businesses and founders, while recognizing that the survey is not a complete census of the ecosystem. The research team works with partners to improve the representativeness of the respondent pool. Some charts may use different subsets of responses or matched groups for year-over-year comparisons.

Privacy and anonymization

Survey responses are anonymized and presented in aggregate so individual companies cannot be identified through the published report. Results based on very small groups of respondents are withheld to protect privacy.
